Privacy Policy

Who we are

sonan.ca is owned and operated by Sonan Digital Inc., a company based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Sonan Digital Inc. is responsible for the personal information described in this policy. You can reach us at [email protected].

This policy explains what we collect when you use this site, why we collect it, who else sees it, how long we keep it, and what you can ask us to do about it. It applies to this website and to any enquiry you send us through it.

What we collect

Information you give us. When you use the form on the contact page, we collect your name, your email address, your company name if you provide it, and whatever you write in the message field. That is the whole list. We do not ask for a phone number, and we do not collect payment details anywhere on this site.

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, ours records some technical information when you visit: your IP address, your browser and device type, the pages you view, how long you spend on them, and the page that referred you here. Some of this is recorded by our own server, and some by the tools listed below.

Cookies and similar technologies

We use a small number of cookies and similar technologies. A cookie consent banner appears when you first visit, and it lets you accept or refuse the non-essential categories. Nothing outside the strictly necessary category is set until you make a choice.

We use these tools, which may set cookies or read your device:

  • Complianz records your cookie choices so the banner does not reappear on every visit.
  • Google Tag Manager (container GTM-5KZCRVP) loads and manages the measurement tags on this site.
  • Google Ads (conversion ID AW-432368982) records when a visit to the thank-you page follows a click on one of our ads, so we know which advertising works.
  • HubSpot (portal 9263178) records page views and associates them with a contact record if you have contacted us before, so we can see which pages people find useful.
  • LinkedIn (Insight Tag) and Leadfeeder (Dealfront) measure which campaigns and which companies reach this site. Leadfeeder works at the company level from network information rather than identifying you personally.
  • Apollo measures visits to our pages and helps us identify companies showing interest in Sonan. Our Apollo website is configured for company-level tracking only. Its script can store a browser identifier and send the page URL, referral and campaign information to Apollo. It loads only after you allow marketing cookies in our consent tool. Apollo’s script may also use an identity-resolution partner; company-only is our current reporting setting, not a claim that the script handles no personal data.
  • Cloudflare serves this site and protects it from abuse. Cloudflare also hides email addresses published on the site from automated scrapers.

The full list of cookies, what each one does, and how long it lasts is on our cookie policy page.

Why we collect it

  • To reply to your enquiry and have a conversation with you about your business.
  • To keep a record of that conversation so we are not asking you to repeat yourself.
  • To understand which pages and which advertising bring people here, and which companies may be interested in our work, so we can focus our outreach and stop wasting effort on what does not work.
  • To keep the site secure and working.

We do not sell the details you send in an enquiry. We share visit data with the measurement providers listed above to understand demand, subject to your cookie choices. A site visit does not make you a marketing-email subscriber.

Consent and your choices

When you send us the contact form, you are consenting to us using your details to respond to you. You can withdraw that consent at any time by writing to [email protected]. Withdrawing it does not undo anything we did before you asked.

A site visit or acceptance of marketing cookies is not permission for us to add you to an email list. If we send commercial email, we follow applicable anti-spam rules, identify Sonan Digital Inc. as the sender, and provide a working way to unsubscribe.

For cookie-based measurement, the consent banner is how you choose. Refusing the non-essential categories does not stop you using the site.

Who else sees your information

We use a small number of service providers, and they see your information only to the extent needed to do the job we have hired them for:

  • HubSpot stores contact records and provides the customer relationship system we work from. If you send an enquiry, your details may be recorded there.
  • Google provides Tag Manager, Analytics and Ads measurement.
  • LinkedIn provides the Insight Tag and ads measurement.
  • Leadfeeder (Dealfront) identifies the company a visit came from.
  • Apollo provides company-level website visitor reporting and receives the tracking data described above. Its script may use a third-party identity-resolution service. See Apollo’s privacy policy.
  • Cloudflare provides content delivery, security and aggregate performance reporting.
  • Our hosting provider stores the website and the enquiry records created by it.

We will also disclose information where the law requires it, where it is needed for a legal proceeding, to establish or defend our legal rights, or to a buyer or prospective buyer if the business is ever sold. If that last situation arose, the same commitments in this policy would continue to apply.

Some of these providers are in the United States, so your information may be stored or processed outside Canada. Where that happens, it is subject to the laws of that country, and it may be accessible to authorities there.

Links on this site may lead to other websites. We are not responsible for their privacy practices, and we would encourage you to read their policies.

How long we keep it

Enquiry records are kept for up to 24 months after our last contact with you, and then deleted. If you ask us to delete them sooner, we will. Measurement data held by Google, HubSpot and Apollo is retained according to those providers’ settings and our account configurations. Apollo’s browser identifier remains in local storage until you clear site data.

We keep this policy deliberately specific rather than saying “as long as necessary,” because a vague retention period is not much of a promise.

How we protect it

This site runs over an encrypted connection. Access to the enquiry records and to the systems listed above is limited to the people who need it, and each provider protects its own storage. No system is perfect, and we cannot promise that a breach will never happen. What we can promise is that we keep the amount of information we hold small, which is the most reliable protection there is. If a breach ever occurred that created a real risk of harm to you, we would tell you and report it as the law requires.

Your rights

Under Canadian privacy law, including Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act, you can ask us to:

  • tell you what personal information we hold about you, and give you access to it;
  • correct anything that is wrong or incomplete;
  • delete information we no longer have a reason to keep;
  • explain how we have used it and who we have disclosed it to;
  • withdraw your consent to our continued use of it.

Write to [email protected] and we will respond within 30 days. We do not charge for this.

If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your request, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or, for Alberta matters, the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta.

Visitors from outside Canada

We work with teams in Canada and the United States, and this site is aimed at them.

European Union and United Kingdom. If you are in the EU or the UK and you contact us, we rely on your consent as our basis for handling your information, and we will use it only for the purposes set out in this policy. You have the additional rights set out in the GDPR, including the right to data portability and the right to object, and you may complain to your national supervisory authority. We transfer data outside the EU and UK only to the providers listed above, and we have put appropriate safeguards in place with them.

California. We do not sell personal information as that term is defined by California law, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. If you are a California resident and want to know what we hold, or want it deleted, write to us and we will handle it the same way we handle any other request.

Children

This site is meant for people doing business, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Do Not Track

We do not respond to browser Do Not Track signals, because there is no agreed standard for what a site should do when it receives one. The cookie consent banner is the mechanism we provide for controlling measurement, and it works regardless of your browser settings.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle personal information, we will update this page and the effective date below. We will not apply a materially different use to information you have already given us without telling you first.
